The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | AUGUST 1933

you will somehow be back in the consciousness of the I AM which is speaking, knowing the truth of what is spoken, feeling its power, and at the same time noting that your mind is listening to you with deepest interest and respect.

THIS will give you, perhaps, the first realization of the truth of what was told you about your mind being your human self, and that YOU, the Real Self, are back within directing all, constantly teaching your mind and trying to get it to listen to and obey you.

Likewise it may be your first glimpse of your Higher Self, the Real You, but it will not be your last; for ever afterward your mind will be intrigued into gaining a closer acquaintance with You, and you will thereby more and more be able to get it to listen to and thus permit you to make of it a better instrument for your use. For gradually the mind will give up its idea of being a separate self, and will realize that it of itself is nothing and that you, within itself, are the Master and the one and only Self, and it will seek only to serve you and to be worthy and perfect for your use.

The importance of thus learning to talk to yourself should be apparent from the above, and this importance cannot be stressed too strongly; for in time it will bring about that transference of your center of consciousness from without in the mind of the separate self and its world of things, to your Christ Self within, where your mind will then not only know its Oneness with You and with all, but that there is no such thing as separation; and it will then no more be engrossed in outer things, but it will seek only to abide within Your consciousness, and when it looks without it will see that all there is unreal and that the only reality is in the Kingdom where You abide.
