As I was coming on the street car from the group meeting this morning, I was conscious of standing at the far end of the garden facing that bright light (and I was not then the globe of light). To the right of me, at the extreme end of the garden, were tall slender trees. As I was standing there these trees disappeared into an ocean of this light, so to speak; it was without beginning or end—light everywhere. Such a picture I have never seen; this light coming right up to the edge of the garden with its green grass and beautiful flowers. Standing there looking at this beautiful light I felt the impulse to walk into it. But as I stepped off the grass to enter it I noticed I was dirty. I took the second step and began to turn black. Then I jumped back into the garden, crying, “Lord, cleanse me with Thy Light!”

I cried a little because I wanted to go back into that light. Presently, feeling like I was about to fall backward, I turned around and there was the world moving slowly in space thousands of feet below me. Then I saw I was on a mountain, the garden on one side, and light on the other, the world at my feet, and I standing on the brink where the garden and the light meet.

Aren’t these experiences strange? I know I have light, but I can see that I am not yet clean enough of self to go into more light. Oh, how I do pray to be cleansed of self so that I may be able to enter that light!
