The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | 1933

that the student has definite guidance every step of the way his soul travels inward in consciousness.

It is suggested that the student familiarize himself thoroughly with the meaning of the different terms used under the section “Definition of Terms,” studying the explanation of each term until it becomes wholly clear. If the meaning cannot be fully gleaned because of lack of previous understanding, seek out among the questions those that pertain to the subject and then search in the corresponding text for the explanations given. By so doing, the additional light needed will be gained.

We have arranged the questions in such order that the truths in the different articles containing them will illustrate and amplify each phase of the Soul being studied. In other words, it will be best to follow the questions through consecutively, even though the articles containing their answers appear in different parts of the book.

Finally, we urge that students study the text thoroughly before coming to the meetings, being sure they can give satisfactory answers to each question in the lesson.

The method of procedure given in The Way Out Course should be followed, adhering to its program and using its opening and closing prayers.

The same affirmations or different ones chosen by the group can be used, just so they prove helpful in your present needs.

Remember, the leader of the meetings need not confine him or herself to the printed questions, but can ask any additional ones on the text that will help bring out all the meaning.

It is not necessary to finish a lesson in one meeting—two or more meetings can be taken for any one article. The main thing is not to leave an article until every member of the group thoroughly understands it. This is most important.
