But be that as it may, there is as we all know for each religion, or larger division of one, an ordinary mortal living in the world who is known and acknowledged as its outer head under Christ. Such heads, for example, as the Archbishop of Canterbury; the Pope, the head of the Catholic Churches; the Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Church; and many others.

With a view to the Coming, which seems now imminent, each Inner Head of a religion may have guided pupils of his own into positions of known and acknowledged Outer Heads of the various divisions He is directing. If this surmise is correct, these Outer Heads, being pupils of Holy Ones, will know when Christ comes that it is indeed He, and will support Him openly in every way in their power.

Thus we should have, for the first time in history, the recognized Heads of all religions standing together, shoulder to shoulder, before the world; and we may have the strange spectacle, of say the Pope of Rome and the Lama of Thibet, working cordially together under Him who is the Head both of Christianity and Buddhism.

This wonderful state of things was predicted 15 years ago in a little book full of inspiration and helpfulness, called “Awaken, Children of Light.” We are all in essence children of light, and when we awake to the fact and bestir ourselves, we can all be actual messengers of light.

This remarkable prediction anticipated just such an event as we have been considering. “That glorious time shall come, when all who work for Him will stand together before the world and work as one—united by devotion and love for Him, and for all that live.” The last few words are important as indicating that Christ when He comes will be working not for humanity alone, but for all that live.

That glorious time may be, and probably is, even now at our doors, in this year of grace 1933; and when it comes it will revolutionize in one way the position of hundreds of thousands of religious ministers throughout the world.

Of one thing we may be fairly sure, that, if He is indeed coming now, it will be a more wonderful event even than the last time. For it would appear that He did not come in His own Person, but only “overshadowed” His servant Jesus, as indicated
