The Inner Life

in symbol in the Gospel account of the baptism in the Jordan. Such “overshadowing” was sufficient for the work then to be done.
This time, however, we should see His own marvelous beauty face to face; and as the work now to be done is world-wide, we may look to see Him visit every country in the world.
Even so, He can be only in one place at a time, and He would welcome the co-operation of ordinary mortals in carrying His message of love and compassion swiftly through all countries. Thus we should all have the opportunity to “do our bit” in this great work. There is none who cannot influence others more or less and prepare them for His Coming, if he is in earnest and will do his best.

WE HAVE a somewhat different idea of His first coming, for we feel he not only came in “His own Person,” but as we have previously stated, He came in “the image and likeness” of God, as the “first fruit” of humanity, the ideal and pattern for all other men to attain.
He “overshadowed” His servant Jesus, just as each of us “overshadows” his earthly personality, for it serves as but a garment or instrument which we inspire and direct from within; and which some of us are able to enter and wholly possess for the time being, even as Jesus was able to do after His baptism in the Jordan—for at times there was evidence that He was not speaking from His Christ Consciousness.
Of course in His second coming He will come in His resurrected etheric body, from which He will appear in the physical whenever needed, just as He did to His disciples after His resurrection. —The EDITOR.
“That man is wise among us, and hath understanding of things divine, who hath nobly agreed with necessity.” —Euripides, quoted by Epictetus.
To know that you do not know is the beginning of Wisdom. —Confucius.
