influenced by the quality of vanity therein. Looking at the woman I said, “I am very glad to know that I have been privileged to be his pupil.” Although still under the influence of vanity, a very familiar thought flashed through me, which I recognized instantly as having come from my Higher Self, and accompanied by the usual vibration of love. In words it meant, “Be sure to view it from all angles before accepting any statement. Don’t jump to conclusions.” Facing the man and looking him in the eye I asked him if he were a Christed Soul.
Still sitting in the chair, he returned my look and said, “Yes.” But the vibrations I felt while looking at his facial expression, told me, “Believe it if you like, but there is nothing to it.” Sensing deception I stood up on the bed and asked him to leave. Instead of leaving, he grew bigger and blacker, pushing himself toward me as if filling the room and almost overpowering me with fear. At this instant I remembered that anyone claiming allegiance to the Brotherhood of Christ was safe from evil and nothing could harm her. Finally mustering all my courage and strength I pointed to the door and tried to command him at the top of my voice; but it seemed as if I had lost my throat, so instead I said in the manner of that plane, “I have all the power of Christ behind me, get out! I am not afraid of you!” At that he seemed to become surrounded by a gray cloud, and I saw him no longer.
To get my bearings I sat down in the middle of the bed with my feet under me, then the door opened and three old ladies came in, each carrying a bouquet of flowers apparently as a gift to me. With their approach my mind assumed that they were Christ Workers come to welcome me or pay me homage. However, though still in the emotional state, I was a little suspicious, and asked
