with pleased satisfaction, feeling that the seed had been planted in rich soil and would soon sprout, mature, ripen and bear good fruit. After a moment’s silence, he said,
“Yes, Ned, another way of stating it would be like this. We are all working for one Master, the Spirit in Humanity. Therefore, no matter where or for whom we seem to be working, nor what our immediate prospects for remuneration may be, if our work is for the best good of all persons concerned, then we will be rewarded in one form or another. In other words, if you are doing the best you know how and doing all that you can in whatever is before you to do, you are working with the law, your mind is attuned to it, and you will then not only be shown what next to do, but will be given the power to do it. By applying this rule in everything and everywhere, all your needs will be perfectly and happily supplied! There is no question or doubt about it—for it is the Law.”
As he finished speaking the telephone bell rang, and as the Doctor rose to answer it, Ned thanked him for his kind advice and started for home, carrying away a smile on his face and a song in his heart; for he knew he had received that evening something of more value than anything that had ever before come to him in his life.
