and Will; then of course your mind will be at peace and wide open, and there will be nothing to hinder your receiving direct inspiration from the All-knowing Mind and being led by It to fill the part and do the work intended for you from the beginning. Do you see how this must be so, my boy? When you no longer interfere, as you have recently been doing by your negative thinking, your mind will be open so that God can use it to finish His Plan through and for you.”
“It sounds very logical, Doctor, and I appreciate your statement that I must not worry, nor entertain any such destructive thoughts; but how would you suggest that I control my mind and rid myself of such thoughts?”
“The whole secret lies in keeping your mind occupied with constructive things. The minute you become idle, the dark thoughts of fear, lack and depression are free to rush into your mind and gain your attention and interest, thus dragging you down to their level, and rendering valueless all the good thinking and intentions you had built up previously.”
“Oh, I see,” said Ned. “Then it would be better for me to work for Dad or mother, or for the neighbors for nothing—to cut the grass, fix up the yard, or hunt up work around the house—in order to keep my mind busy with constructive thoughts; than to hang around the house doing nothing, waiting for something to turn up and thus leaving the mind open to dark thoughts. I can see that plainly. Then too, when I am keeping the mind busy, I will receive all kinds of inspiration showing me how to help others and at the same time possibly to make money for myself. I remember now that I always received my best ideas when busy at my work.”
Noticing by the light in Ned’s face that he had come into a new understanding, the Doctor smiled inwardly
