Now let us assume that in the soul realms there are many earnest students and investigators, the same as there are here, and that in the course of their studies some have learned that contact with those of earth can be made by meeting certain conditions and obeying certain laws. They have found that by strong desire and exerting their wills they can impress certain types of individuals—those called psychic, or extra sensitive—so that their minds receive impulses and they act upon them as if of their own volition. Likewise some have learned that by strong imagination and will-power they can control the arm of such individuals and use it, as if it were their own, especially if such can be induced to sit expecting it to be so used.

Such students and investigators naturally pursue their experiments for the general purpose of establishing connections between the inner and outer worlds, in order that conditions in the former may be made known to those in the latter, and that both the individuals forming the connections and as many more as possible may be instructed in the laws governing the relations between the two worlds.

These students and investigators may be of a purely scientific type of mind, and either of a high or a low moral nature, the same as those in the physical. They may be interested in the spiritual welfare and growth of their human mediums or they may care nothing about such, being concerned only with the success of their experiments; like those “scientific” men in the physical world who operate ruthlessly on patients or cut up animals to gain knowledge, and with absolutely no regard to the well-being of such.
