MISUNDERSTANDING, hatred, strife had long usurped the throne of Earth, dispensing grief and prejudice through Nation, Race and Individual. Dark chaos appeared imminent and there went forth a call from Those who ever watch the trend of things, to the Five Great Races of the earth, commanding each to send one man to a “Planetary Conference” where they could find if possible a common purpose or an underlying truth that would destroy earth’s ancient enmity.

Prompt and obedient was the response to that authoritative call. The carefully selected Five met and entered on their work, a task of portentious influence and magnitude. The hours merged swiftly into days and weeks, each moment filled with interest and the keen delight experienced from contacting kindred intellects. For it was evident that in this little Group was symbolized the ultimate of learning in Art, Science and Philosophy, which subjects, with their numerous branches, were well tested and reviewed, each member striving earnestly to bring honor to his race.

But as time passed and the final hours drew near, their first delight turned slowly to distress as they began to realize their inability to find a cure for world enmity that was just to all. Anxiety became the keynote of the little Group, for with all their force of super-intellect, they had succeeded only in deferring the mad confusion of the earth. The last hour of their council came and found the Five in silence, filled with apprehensive thoughts, for before them lay the necessity of reporting failure to their
