The Inner Life
THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | DECEMBER 1936
As he acknowledged this God Presence within, the Pilgrim showed forth all the attributes of God—Love, Wisdom, Power, Patience, Diligence, Humility, Tolerance and Forgetfulness of self. As he gave generously of himself in service to other pilgrims he encountered on the way no longer did he think of time nor did he wonder how long until he would dwell in the Promised Land. It was then that the Presence again appeared and spoke with tenderness, “My child, awake! Enter the gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise!”
The pilgrim awoke where he was and gazed with awe at the great Gateway so near at hand, and all that he beheld was more glorious than any of his dreams. For as it is written, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.”

DARKNESS TO LIGHT
By F. R. M.
OUT of the darkest night the angel message came
Bringing the heavenly light
To banish for ever the shame
Of the world and its sorrowful plight.
The birth of the Christ in a lowly estate,
A gift of God’s love was He,
Brought peace and joy instead of hate
And a prayer in Gethsemane.
The babbling crowd demanded death,
On His cross their shame did cling;
While creation bowed with bated breath
In honor to Heaven’s King.
Thy heart is the sepulcher
With the Christ buried within;
You hold Him captive there
Sealed with a stone of sin.
His angels will come at your bidding
And roll sin’s stone away,
Transforming your life to a beacon light,
Guiding souls
To the land of eternal day.
