The Inner Life
THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | 1933
thoughts, it can be brought into direct touch with even God’s Consciousness. For is not God All in all? Is not His the Consciousness that lighteth every man that cometh into the world, and in which all live, move and have their being?
THE DEVIL
The devil is pure selfishness, the very opposite of Impersonal Love, or of Christ. It is the source of all selfishness in humanity, the powerful force that ever works to hold man down to earth and to his animal nature. The devil is the antithesis of Christ; he is the anti-christ, the father and creator of all evil in the world. He is the darkness of consciousness, even as Christ is the Light. He negates all good, and does all possible to keep man from being good.
EVIL
Evil is the product of darkness, ignorance and selfishness. It feeds off of and can live only in a consciousness where exist these three qualities of man’s nature. In other words, it is a part of the constitution of young and ignorant souls; for when the light of true understanding comes, the soul learns that evil brings only unhappiness, dissatisfaction, suffering and sorrow, and it then begins to glimpse and long for the good which before it could not comprehend.
DEATH
Death is but the throwing off the garment of flesh when the soul has finished on earth what it came here this lifetime to accomplish. The soul being the consciousness, which is eternal because it is a center of God’s Consciousness, it cannot die and always persists; it can be said to sleep between each life exactly as the mind continues its existence even when the body consciousness sleeps at night. At night the mind’s consciousness retires into an inner state of existence and comes back into the brain in the morning; but at death the mind’s consciousness retires and stays in that inner state of being, coming back no more into that same brain, but in time building for itself a new body and a new brain into which it returns as a babe, awakening into a new day of the soul’s life.
