will not include anyone who in any way is seeking anything for self; because of its very nature it will consist only of true servers of humanity, those who have dedicated their lives to Christ and who are led and inspired by the Holy Spirit of God.

We intend herein to make what this means so clear, before this article is finished, that everyone who reads will know and will have no excuse when the Master comes and calls His own to Him.

Because of the subtle nature of the appeal that this knowledge of a special group of subjective workers makes to many students, and of their natural desire to contact and to become a member of such group, it behooves every aspirant to such honor to study carefully all that is stated about the requirements. For only those of certain characteristics and sufficient spiritual development are eligible. This will be elaborated upon later herein.

But at the beginning we wish to recall to you Jesus’ definite statement regarding this very situation which we are making the subject of discussion in this article. In those days, He says:

“If any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”—Mat. 24:23-24.

In other words, these are the days when, if he would not be deceived and be led astray, every man must study himself carefully, so that he becomes thoroughly acquainted with every hidden quality of self, with all of his secret desires, hopes and aspirations, so that he may see clearly just how much of self is subtly inspiring and motivating each. There is nothing in print that will help the truly in earnest ones to do this like a careful and prayerful study of The Impersonal Life.
