EDITORIAL

THIS IS in the nature of an informative letter to our readers, advising them of a situation that has arisen as a result of the new printer’s and linotyper’s code recently put into effect by the Government.

It is responsible for the change in the cover and type used in this issue and likewise for the change in price. To put it more plainly, we were faced with the necessity of paying nearly twice as much for producing each issue as was paid the past year.

Two things were considered: One, that we use much cheaper paper, cut down the size and increase the selling price; and the other that we lessen the cost of the magazine as much as possible without changing too much its appearance, and then reduce the subscription price to $1.50 a year, 15 cents a number, thereby making it possible to double and treble the subscription list and the monthly sales.

It became soon obvious to us, when considering the first plan, that we could not well increase the selling price, for it was too high already—not for what was given in return, but
