The Inner Life
THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | NOVEMBER 1934
Christ Consciousness, being “in the world, but not of it,” able to withdraw their physical bodies from visibility at will when necessary, even as did Jesus after His Resurrection but before His Ascension. Such will work then wholly under His direction, accomplishing for Him the “cleansing of the Sanctuary,” making the earth fit and ready for His rule.
This period of cleansing, remember, begins immediately after “the end of the tribulation of these days,” which we have every reason to believe will now be but a matter of a few years, maybe of months—for our Lord asserts that His coming will be “as a thief in the night,” that “of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but my Father.”
How long will be the period of cleansing and reorganization is not revealed to us, but it would seem certain that the elect of earth will be the ones who will be in charge during that period and who will prepare the earth and all on it for His Kingdom and His rule.
This will be a task not as would appear at present, for after the Judgment-day there will be no more selfishness, no more evil men left in the world. They will all have been cast into age-lasting darkness, while in His Kingdom will be loving service one to another—true brotherhood, all working for the good of the whole.
As the Kingdom of Heaven is to be brought down upon earth, the plan already now in use in the Kingdom there will then be the plan used on earth, as it is God’s perfect plan for all men, surely it is better than men can devise, and all of their efforts in their present consciousness will avail them little.
YOU MUST remember that all that is quoted above from the Bible about His coming Jesus told to His disciples, while Paul told it to Jesus’ followers, and that it applied to those only who were faithful in waiting for His coming; and we also want to make it as plain as possible who are those who will be “caught up together with them at His coming.”
Who else could it be but those who have proven in every way, in the tests and examinations through which they have passed, their love and trust in God; that the pleasing of Him and the doing of His will is the supreme and only concern of their lives?
