While it is impossible to give definite rules enabling one to tell if those who come are the real souls of departed ones or their shells or personalities, we can say—where those who meet together with high aspirations, seeking only spiritual truths, and not advice about material things, they will attract the interest of either the souls or the personalities of those that can give them the help needed.
