the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil); and now lest he put forth his hand and take also of the Tree of Life and LIVE FOREVER, therefore Jehovah God sent him forth from the Garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken,”—in other words, to force man to learn from earth or outer experiences (which man early found were all evil, as compared to those in the Garden of Eden within, which then seemed all good) the true lesson and meaning of evil, to discover and bring forth the good which it hides, and thereby gain the practical knowledge that will make him a god, and give him the power to live forever.

For some reason but few students have been able to catch the wonderful truth in this statement,—that only by first learning of the evil in their own natures and everywhere else in the outer world, and knowing it for just what it is, as did the Prodigal Son, can they realize the lack and need of good, can be reminded of their divine nature, and can come finally to yearn to return to their Father’s home, where alone all is good. It is only by knowing evil, through tasting and eating to satiation of its fruit, that we learn what evil is not, and then begin to long for and seek good for its own sake; and it is only by such knowing that we can truly understand our brother’s need and can help him to discover the same truth.

We are fully aware of just what teachers and truth students have in mind when stating, “All is good and there is no evil,” but never will our brother whom we are seeking to help and who sees evil all around him, believe evil does not exist and there is only good, until he has been first taught by plain teaching and example how to seek and find the Kingdom of God within himself, where the Christ of him and the true Good abides.
