thus treated, real benefit can come only through a renewal of the mind of that one which will lead to true understanding.

When once we can convince ourselves that disease does originate from abnormal, mental and emotional states, then it is much easier to accept the idea that a cure can result when wrong mental and feeling states of consciousness are corrected.

It is easy to convince the individual, not fully informed on the laws of mind, that certain functional derangements may be relieved or cured by mental means; but that individual would question the idea of restoring one to normal where there had taken place an organic change in the cell structure of certain organs or parts of the body. We will prove that is not only possible, but that it has been done. We will take as the first case for analysis a manifestation commonly called cancer.

A cancer is a malignant, malicious growth, one that progresses quite rapidly at certain states but previous to that stage is usually of slow growth. So let us search for a similar line of mental activity in the consciousness of the individual. A cancer becomes active and more progressive in its manifestation usually at a time in the life of the individual after retirement from active business or social life, indicating that the line of mental activity that produced the manifestation may have been kept out of consciousness to a great degree by those activities; but when there were no diversions the attention of the individual was more easily drawn to the particular line of mental activity that was responsible for the cancer manifestation, hence its more rapid development.

THE WRITER lived for many years next door to a physician and his wife. They were excellent neighbors. The lady was a woman of high moral character. For years she was Sunday School superintendent. She was active in all church and social life in the community. She gave herself unselfishly at all times without any expectation of remuneration to help the sick. She has a large woman and very strong in her younger days. We have seen her stay all night at a bed side, doing the work of two or three ordinary people.

Before her husband passed away she showed signs of a small cancer upon her breast. The best of medical attention was given and it seemed that it was not serious. With the death of her husband came a period when she was alone much of the time.
