The Inner Life
THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | SEPTEMBER 1935
are the very ones who need love directed towards them. We do not add acid to an acid to neutralize it—if we did it would but intensify its corrosiveness; but we add an alkali, which is of an opposite chemical nature and causes the acid to lose its power to cause harm.
She said, “Is that all I have to do to get well?”
Our answer was, “That is all.”
We explained to her that it was not a case of mind over matter, but of greater intelligence over lesser. When the mental activity was kept constructive and the feelings happy, buoyant, optimistic and filled with love and good-will toward all created things and beings, the intelligence within the cells would function constructively. The perfect blue-print was there all the time, but when inharmonious feelings are allowed to dominate, the intelligence in the cell organizations are thrown into confusion and the manifestation is naturally inharmonious.
She said, “I will do it.”
We suggested that she read The Way Out, The Way Beyond, and The Impersonal Life. She also attended some group meetings while here.
In three days after we talked with her the first time the swelling was all gone from her leg. In about thirty days she returned to her home and her work. About a year afterwards she came back here on a visit. She had been working all the time. There was no appearance of the former malicious manifestation. She looked twenty years younger.
It has now been over three years since her recovery and she is still working and supporting herself. One time when she was here after her complete recovery, she said, “I came to show you your work.” We quickly told her that we did nothing except point out the law. Her destructive thoughts and feelings created the old condition, and so her change to a constructive state of consciousness created the new condition.
The cure is very easy, the hard thing is to get them to change their minds.
