I bought the shoes and had enough left over to buy three different articles I needed very much. I thought of the words, “Ask, and it shall be given you, full measure and running over.” Perhaps these words are not exact, but you will understand how I felt.

WE HAD been having trouble with the lock of a certain door of a room in our hotel where we stored needed things, and one day the key refused to turn; in fact it got stuck and we could not budge it. Several men tried to get it loose for me, but the more they tried the tighter it seemed to stick.

Finally I told them to get away and let me try it again; it was necessary to get in that room and we should not have to break down the door, so something deep within me compelled me to think and say to myself:

“With God all things are possible. He knows our need for the things in this room, and I know man’s extremity is God’s opportunity, and that He can enable me to open this door.”

I felt this as surely as I have ever felt any true thing, and taking hold of the key, I started to turn it; and just as if something on the other side was helping me, it moved with a click, the latch was released, and the door opened as easily as it had ever opened before.

This was a wonderful lesson to me and has enabled me often since then to accomplish things that were impossible before in the old consciousness in which I had tried to do them.
