ALL AGREE that the fruit of a spiritualized life is PEACE. The tempest subsides, the furor is over, the thing sought is found, turmoil is blotted out—and we have found PEACE.

Many minds have developed different theories about the phenomena of life. Fifty years of intensive investigation leads me to believe that the whole matter of spiritual unfoldment hinges around and within the first commandment: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy mind, and with all thy strength.”

This is not difficult. First we think of BEING—Whatever, Whoever it was that created life in the beginning. The subject does not adapt itself readily to our minds as they are at present organized; therefore it is the unusual mind that can think of this subject in a sustained manner for more than a fleeting moment.

The very first IDEA that will ensue from any sustained thinking is the vastness of Being—the immeasurable, limitless, incomprehensible dimension of Being—vast, unfathomable.

Any idea, once fixed in the mind, sets up an automatic unconscious thinking; for that idea will not remain still, but will work in the mind until it finds satisfaction—rest, poise, PEACE. For the mind of man is so constituted that it is ever seeking to connect itself with its Source, the One Mind, and consciously or unconsciously it wants to know all there is in that Mind.
