The Inner Life

of that effect or result must be SOMETHING of a creative and sustaining nature. Jesus sought to tell us of the Father—THAT SOMETHING back of every phenomenal manifestation of life.

The sense man is always deceiving himself, because he judges through his five senses everything that appears before him. But when man turns to the higher levels of consciousness—to SPIRIT—the I AM, he escapes from the illusions of the senses and their material effects that would capture and hold his interest. In that consciousness he learns of the realities back of these outer manifestations—of the goodness and purpose of life that they hide.

The whole experience I have related was in a way an initiation, wherein the Spirit of Truth instructed me—that I WAS SPIRIT, and that I was superior to and above all these five sense appearances; that when disease, poverty, sorrow and even death appeared, I COULD RISE ABOVE THEM ALL, as I rose in that vivid experience above the five men (who really symbolized the five senses); I could escape the bondage of appearances, even as I escaped from those five robbers.

Jesus mentioned these five robbers, saying, “I AM THE WAY; if any man enter (or climb up) by any other way, he is a robber and a thief.” There is no way of liberation from the bondage of death and disease save the “WAY” of the living Christ, the indwelling “I AM” of the One Supreme Being manifesting in YOU.

This study of BEING, as related to the thinker, sums itself up in the convincing truth that we are Spiritual Beings, and that through the Spirit which I AM, I can at will rise above and away from the illusions of earth that the five senses would hold me to, and can be and manifest my true self—even the Christ Self, Who is the
