“NOT AFRAID OF DEATH NOW”
By United Press
LONDON, Feb. 8.—Back from death, John Puckering, 58, found that he had left what to him is a real heaven, only to return to an earth that promises him little in the waning years of his life, he has revealed.
The British Medical Journal discusses Puckering’s “death and rebirth,” but does not describe his reactions.
Puckering’s heart stopped during an operation at Liverpool. By means of massage and injections, surgeons brought him back to life in five minutes.
In his heaven he saw during his five minutes of “death” crowds of people, supremely happy, and among them friends from his village of Arley, near Bewdley.
Upon his return to life, he inquired about the health of his wife, who died 15 years ago, as if she were still alive, and in the same way asked about his friends. He did not regard them as dead any more.
“Before my operation,” he said, “I had what is, I suppose, the usual feeling about death. It was not exactly fear, but a little trepidation about the unknown. Today all that has passed from me.
“It was as though I were looking into a great place something like a hall, though I cannot recall having seen either ceiling or walls.
“There was a good light and I saw crowds of people. The people stood in a circle and I noticed that there were no children among them. They looked natural, with healthy faces, and they appeared to be dressed as on earth.
“Among them were two or three friends from this village; Their happiness thrilled me and I have lost all fear of death.” —The Cleveland Press.

WHETHER or not John Puckering actually visited heaven as stated, he gained something from the experience that changed his whole attitude toward life; it gave him an assurance of what awaited if he does faithfully his part on earth. Think of how much harsh experience here most of us have to go through
