mine increased until he seemed a puny wraith, and he retreated mouthing hatred. “We know who you are and we have orders to destroy you. That is why you have had so much grief and trouble in your life, and were it not for one higher than you protecting you, we would have had your body and soul long ago. We are not yet done with you,”—were his last words.
“You can expect no mercy from me,” I replied; “and if God gives me the power to do so, I shall wield the sword of Vespasian against you till your sins are drowned in the blood you have invoked. You have taken the sword and you shall die by the sword. The day we meet you shall die. This time the Kingdom of Christ is come to earth, and His servants will fight. That which He hath built you shall not destroy. God, Who has made me merciful of heart, has also given me the vision to see that at times it is necessary to slaughter the wicked when they deliberately take the side of evil. There are times when God’s Mercy ends and He destroys that which will not bend to His Will. You have sinned beyond mercy, because you have shut the door that leads to God.”
