An intelligent understanding of just what is the source of these tremendous currents and the best means to confine and assimilate them is the first thing needed to be gained. This is not difficult but requires the ability completely to contact the ego. To learn to “Know Thyself” is the first part of the process. To attune one’s self to the soul or inner self, if rightly done, does not require the presence of another entity, or “spirit,” as so many think. It does not even necessitate subjugation of the waking consciousness (trance). Just a simple entering into the great silence of the inner sanctuary. All can accomplish it after a little practice and a sensible knowledge of just what to expect. Each in time will find his own way. Some will experience it seemingly through the perceptual faculties, as a voice, the actual spoken word, or perhaps a vision. Another will receive the knowledge of contact and influx as an impression of something or someone outside himself; a strong thought which he realizes does not come over the customary tracts. The latter is in reality the easiest to recognize and accept, after one becomes accustomed to it.
