The Inner Life
THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | OCTOBER 1936
the soul goes to the Father and to all those sister and brother souls who assemble and meet around “His table,” and then the day’s work is gone over, and each one takes the part he is to act, the coming day, in the drama that is developing his soul, and leading to ultimate perfection.
I am on this dryland ranch today, because I choose to be here; because it is the Father’s will. We talked it over and I made the decision to go, because I knew there were lessons I must learn. So why worry. . . . Tonight I’ll be home again, with Him, and with other souls who are seeking to carry on His GREAT WORK—which now, I believe truly is “The Impersonal Work.”
This may seem “funny” to you—but I can’t help believing what my soul tells me is true—regardless.
I could be extremely happy here—the remainder of my life, with my books, my prayers, my dogs, my horses, and my nights out under the stars. . . . Truly I sometimes think once I was a Shepherd on the Judean hills. . . . so many strange memories come to me as I herd my cattle and care for them—and love them. The boss cannot understand. Everything on the ranch loves me. I do not drive the domestic stock—they simply follow me. . . . I can hardly believe it myself. But when I took the job I knew nothing about it, and told the Father He would have to do it for me. . . . and HE DID.
I must not be lulled to sleep here by Peace, much spiritual growth, etc. That is all right. But there IS SO MUCH TO DO IN THE WORLD, and oh so few to do it. And I must do my part—and I shall, God willing.
Please pray for me, that I find work in some large city, I prefer to return to Spokane, where I can work for the Father. I shall need money for transportation, and suitable clothes. How I shall get them—I don’t know, but the Father knows. A way will open for me. Please, please pray for me that substance be mine, so I may go to the work I desire so much to do. Have I made this plain?
No. 9. My greatest desire? Well, when I formulated my “Aspiration” with the “Masters,” more than a decade ago: I said:
