The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | DECEMBER 1933

I had made no effort to draw upon and thus to make use of the spiritual funds he had placed to my credit, nor had I further called on him for help. But it was just as well, for I was then probably not yet prepared to understand and therefore properly to use spiritual funds; and that now he was in a much better position to help and I to follow his suggestions. He also needed my help to accomplish what he was planning to do, because of my earth contacts, and that now he hoped for the success of his present work, which if it came would free everyone on earth that could be reached who was ready to be freed.

I AM mentioning this for it is evident that what impoverishes the spiritual worker is something that is more than of earth, and I do not think it can be met by earthly remedies. I feel that keeping the spiritual worker impoverished, or debasing him with money, is the head and front of the enemy’s purpose at this time; and that if an attack could be launched on his “headquarters,” it would be in the nature of a frontal cosmic attack which, if all the spiritual workers that could be reached would each summon to their aid whatever higher forces they commanded, would be an effective step in destroying his resistance.

If this opposition to spiritual workers is a “cosmic” thing, then to relieve the situation for an individual worker or a group of workers would be of little avail; for it would be easy to create the same conditions elsewhere. What I am trying to convey is the difference between individuals contending against this opposition personally, and individuals and groups contending as one against it as a “cosmic entity,” thus striking at headquarters, its heart.
