The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | MAY 1935

They will say, either “The message alone matters; the messenger is nothing,” or “It is just a Brother who speaks.”

They are indeed the “Elder” Brothers of the race, and Their chief mission is to instil the Light of Divine Love into the minds and hearts of humanity, as fast as individuals are able to receive It. Their work naturally then is only with the most spiritually advanced souls of the race, for the vast majority of people are not capable of knowing True Love and thereby of recognizing Them. They note carefully those individuals whose Inner Light is beginning to shine, those who are learning to love and who can be taught to serve.

Naturally Their work is not concerned so much with the development of the mind and its powers, leaving that chiefly to the Master Minds of the race; for They know that all souls must eventually perfect their outer instruments—their human minds, their round out their natures, must taste and enjoy all the powers of the soul and the fruits of all human experience; until there is nothing more in the world to strive for, nothing any more that allures or satisfies. Then and then only are they open to and ready to be quickened by the Holy Spirit; and it is then that they come under the observance and jurisdiction of the Christ Brothers. Before this can be, however, they must have thorough training under different grades of Master Minds, until the mind becomes a perfect servant of the Christian mind and the finding of the Kingdom becomes the great objective in the outer life; when they are eligible to membership in the Christ Brotherhood.

THIS will enable you to see why all souls must become perfected, must first completely master their minds and their lower natures and thereby become Master Minds, before they can come into their ripened fruitage—can be anointed by the Holy Spirit; and why Jesus, the Christed Master Mind, was called the “first fruit of them that slept.”

It will also help you to see why—until one has unfolded Spiritually to that place in consciousness where the finding of the Kingdom of God is first and supreme to the mind, and the knowing that God’s Kingdom is the Consciousness of Divine Love, and the mind is no longer concerned about gaining knowledge and powers for itself—Jesus told His disciples to seek first the Kingdom, when all things else would be added. It was solely to keep their minds
