The Inner Life

“True; the value of all things lies in their use. But the fault is with men, in their not knowing about and how to apply the law. You admit that at present you are in the place where you have grown to be, or have won for yourself. Then, if the law supplied every good thing needed for your growth up to this point, will it not supply every needed good thing to carry you forward to your next stage of unfoldment?”

Ned pondered over this for a few minutes, and then said, slowly, “I’ll admit that one cannot get away from that conclusion, once one faces it. But if this good is waiting to be used, how can I realize it and solve my present problem?”

“Just as your unfoldment and employment of the past were closely linked with that of humanity, so your next step, your next employment, will be intimately related to that of the good of the whole; because the law is out-manifesting through humanity, and cannot accomplish its purpose without working for and taking care of every individual. The only thing that can stop the law from working harmoniously for you or anyone is your failure to work with the law—first by allowing thoughts of doubt, fear and worry to clog the channel of inspiration; and secondly, by not doing what is before you to do.”

A sudden flash of illumination flooded Ned’s face and he exclaimed, excitedly, “Then since there are so many unemployed at this time, humanity as a whole must have reached a stage where a higher unfoldment awaits; and men are blind to their good fortune because their minds are clogged and darkened by fears and worries caused by the depression!”

“That is exactly the case. Mankind has evolved beyond the necessity of working with the hands as directed by
