THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | MARCH 1936
THE IMPERSONAL TEACHINGS
IT MAY NOT be generally known, but the work of The Sun Center has grown around the teachings of The Impersonal Life, first published in 1914. The first edition was only 1000 copies, but the immediate recognition and appreciation of its high truths warranted a second edition of 5000 copies, and the demand has grown until there is now a steady sale of about 5000 or more copies every year, a total of nearly one hundred thousand copies sold.
In the intervening period many thousands of letters have been received from lovers of its Message and from those seeking help in the applying of its truths in their personal problems; so that in 1928 it was decided to issue a series of Lessons designed for those who wished definite and systematic instruction to aid them in preparing to live the Impersonal Life.
These Lesson Papers were issued monthly for over five years until May, 1934, when they were discontinued as Papers, but the monthly Teachings thereafter appeared in The Impersonal Work Department of this Magazine.
In these Teachings there was every evidence from the first Lesson of Divine guidance in their issuance; for while never planned ahead and often the outer mind not knowing what it would say, yet when time to write the next Lesson the Teaching was ready waiting in the consciousness and had but to be put in words. And each Lesson, when its truths are fully understood, proves to have in it a quickening power that definitely lifts the student into the next higher stage of consciousness, until finally the Christ Consciousness of the Kingdom is reached. Many through these Lessons have reached that Consciousness and are more or less able to abide in and work from It.
A good percentage of the subscribers to THE INNER LIFE are either receiving the monthly Lesson Papers or are studying The Way Out Course or Lessons. It is hoped that eventually every lover of the Magazine will become a student of the Impersonal Lessons because of the definite Spiritual instruction contained.
By Spiritual instruction we mean food for the soul, instead of just for the mind; for everyone goes through a long period of informing the mind with all kinds of knowledge, which serves as a means of stimulation that sooner or later results in a “rebirth,”
