While working with him I was thinking one day about the part I was playing in this Work. I knew that “of myself I am nothing,” and I did not want my lower self to imagine that it was really doing anything, so that no form of conceit could enter the mind as a result of the wonderful healing that took place.

As I sat there in meditation I “saw” a very large searchlight being moved here and there over the city, the light illuminating everything wherever it was focused, and I heard these very significant words, “You are the searchlight, the instrument, NOT the Light!”

Then I was comforted and knew my work was simply to focus the Light wherever we found sickness, sorrow, evil, trouble, or darkness of any kind; and that I am now trying to do, in ever-increasing humility and gratitude that I can be used as an instrument for the Master’s Work.

THE CHURCH is a Shrine of Worship. The Inner Church is an inner Shrine. The Outer Church is the temple mortal. Within the precincts of the mortal temple truly dedicated to My Word, there Am I; just as I Am in the Inner Sanctuary, the Holy Place in the heart. Therefore the Inner and the Outer Church differ only as men’s understanding of Me differs—as they recognize Who and Where I Am.

When one comes to the realization that I Am everywhere present, Am in all men and in all things, and one sees Me only in them, that one is in the unity of My Being and of My Love.

I do not divide Myself into sects, into partitions, but Am ONE and eternally Whole. The Outer Church recognizes Me as the supreme Lord God and honors Me in its Service. The Inner Church acknowledges Me as All there is. Therefore, while a difference may exist as to the interpretation of My Being, the difference exists only in the human mind.

When thou through meditation, in the silence of the human mind, My Voice speaks forth, thus I show Myself unto My beloved; and they ever afterwards know Me as I Am. From thence onward the sense of apartness ceases and they know Me within themselves, and worship at My Shrine in their hearts. They worship in true
