The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | DECEMBER 1934

Jesus when on earth promised would teach them all things and lead them unto all Truth.

He then becomes their only Leader, Guide and Teacher, and when He is truly found, and has taken charge of their lives, our work is finished, except in so far as to hold all such together as One in the outer, in order to give them such Word as is necessary for their combined work in Groups, preparatory to His Coming.

Remember also that this Work is being conducted in the outer in complete harmony with the Work of our Brothers in the Kingdom; in fact it is Their outer expression those in it having made the inner contact being the open channels or instruments directly used by the Christ Brotherhood in accomplishing Its work on earth as planned in Heaven. Therefore the necessity of careful preparation that will bring about the contact with the Christ within.

OTHER MOVEMENTS

NOW A WORD about other movements and other teachers, both in the outer and the inner world. Try to realize that all true movements and teachers serve only one purpose, and that is to prepare the student to find the Christ within. By that is meant, there are many movements that help students become aware of the inner realm of spirit where they contact a teacher. That teacher, if he be a true servant of Christ, will seek only to help the student unfold in consciousness to where he will find and know the I AM or Christ within. In other words, he will continually impress upon the mind of the student that he must “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and His Righteousness, when all things else will be added.”

Any teacher or movement that stresses attaining adeptship and powers, the contact of other masters than Jesus Christ, and fails to point the finding the Christ within and the Kingdom as being the first and supreme requisite, you may know as not yet having found and entered the Kingdom, which means the Christ-Consciousness—despite the wondrous powers they claim or demonstrate, or the knowledge they impart. Most of such deem they have advanced far beyond the humble and selfless disciples of Christ; but all who fail to feel the warmth of the Great Love in a teacher, his teachings and followers, may know that he has not yet found Christ or the Kingdom, and he is still but on his way to the goal that his soul—not his mind—is seeking.
