The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | DECEMBER 1935

I was on the jury and met some lovely people there. Before going to work I would say to myself, “God is the judge, the jury and the defendant. See Him in them always.”

There was a wonderful feeling of harmony among us all through our cases, and when our set of jurists was leaving, the judge took us into his private office and said that never had he had jurists work in such accord with him, and it was if a part of himself was being lost when we left. I will never forget this wonderful experience.

A PLACE OF SAFETY

MANY are seeking and planning to escape to a place of safety when the Great Tribulation comes upon the world. But no true Inner Worker or Disciple of Christ will think of such a thing, for his only concern will be to be so perfectly equipped for service by that time that he will be able to help as many as possible to turn to God in a simple, childlike, perfect love and trust, and KNOW that He will take care of everything; and that that will be the one and only way of escape.

Instead of rushing away to the mountains or to any vaunted place of safety, they will plan to be in the midst of the suffering ones, in order to succor as many as can be helped. For they know that by that time, having attained the power to retire at will into their I AM or Christ Consciousness, the outer world will have no longer for them any reality; they can therefore be in it but not of it, and nothing that is happening to others can touch or affect them.

This can only be, however, with those who have trained themselves to do conscious inner work, realizing that they are pure spirit and that all things that appear are only thoughts in the outer mind and have no reality. Therefore, they no longer allow themselves to get involved in their minds’ or other minds’ thought creations or beliefs, but abide in the truth of their being as pure spirit and not flesh and blood; so that they are free to create by right thinking good and perfect outer conditions or to dispel inharmonious or unhappy ones for those needing and ready to be helped.

This is a very wonderful thought. Think on it until its vital significance is fully grasped.
