down to my lungs and it would seem they are affected. I have tried to know the truth—that this does not belong to me; to know who I Am, and keep my thoughts off the cough; but it persists. Please show me wherein I am at fault.
We are surprised to see the cough hanging on so. Here is something that will help.
Try to realize that you, a thinking being, are not flesh and blood, and have no ailing throat, weak lungs or things of that kind; but you are a spiritual being living in this body of flesh. Now try to imagine yourself as such a being whose life is thus animating, vitalizing and growing your body, feeding each cell with just that which builds into each health and strength and which really knows nothing of disease, weakness or lack of any kind—for you are LIFE! Yes, in very truth YOU are expressing God’s Life!
If you can realize this, can relax and get perfectly quiet so you can feel it, you will first feel a warm, tingling glow within you, showing that this life within gladly responds to your recognition of its true nature; and then if you will with your mind direct this glow to any part of your body—to your throat or lungs, or any part that is out of harmony, so that you feel it there, you will find that the inharmony will soon disappear.
The reason is that you thus by your thought become one in consciousness with the Life that is your true expression; and as that Life’s mission is to grow, heal, restore and make perfect any injury or interference with its perfect expression—that which it intends as its perfect fruitage—it will always do this, if you thus co-operate with it.
