THE INNER ROOM
CONTAINING quotations from our replies to those writing us for help in their Spiritual problems.
Each day at 12 o’clock noon, we take the names of those asking for such help in the Silence of the Spirit, and “Speak the Word” for them. Many hundreds have testified to receiving the blessings of such ministry.
CHRONIC CONDITIONS
REGARDING your question, not always are the conscious thoughts one carry around in one’s mind the cause of inharmonious conditions manifesting in one’s life; for the chronic ones or those of long standing are usually the results of beliefs hidden deep down in the SUBconscious and of which the conscious mind is not aware. The only way to find what are such is to note carefully these conditions, study yourself, and to ask your Loving Father to show you just what caused them.
You have to watch and listen carefully, however, because having accepted this condition as being so for so long, the belief in its reality overshadows every other thought and makes it very difficult to recognize God’s meaning when He tries to point out to you the cause and the remedy.
He will show them to you, however, if you persist and prove to Him that you are deadly in earnest about removing them. The experience of thus working with a condition under His guidance will be of untold benefit once you have learned the lessons from it.

TITHING WHEN YOU HAVE DEBTS
ON THE subject of tithing, many who tithe in the right way, it being a glad offering to our Loving Father for the blessings already received, find themselves richly blessed in return. On the other hand, as everything belongs to the Father within and you are merely His custodian, everything you do should be for Him, concerned only that you are pleasing Him; then tithing as such would not be necessary. But until you can do that, tithing certainly helps.
About tithing though you have debts, your real debt is not to man, but to God, and as God is every man and He knows what is in your heart, think you that He cannot take care of your debts to Him, that He cannot provide you with plenty when you open the door of your mind wide so that He can inspire and show you what He wants you to do? Think this over, dear friend, and hereafter in a perfect love and trust in Him let Him show you His will for you, and you will find that there will be no more problem of finance—it will all be taken care of for you.

RELATIVES WHO IMPOSE
WE NOTE your problem with your mother and brother and sister. We agree with you, why should you support your mother when she acts the way she does and when your brother is far more able to do it than you? Why not take a positive stand and tell your mother that hereafter she must look to your brother for her support; that you cannot possibly support four people on six dollars a week, and that he is perfectly able to take care of her. Until you do take such a stand it looks as if your brother, sister and mother will continue to impose on you.
Your dream of a lion that walked up to you, but when you told it to get back and away from you, and it did, is an illustration sent you to show you how to handle this situation. This lion is the influence or force your mother and brother are using against you. When you once definitely and positively tell them to go away and stay away from you, as you did the lion in your dream, they will do as did the lion.

THE PURIFYING FIRES OF SPIRIT
YOU MUST remember that this is Lent, the period preceding Easter, a time of preparation for the Resurrection. You seem to be going through that preparation, which is a cleansing and purifying process that can be accomplished only through the power of the Holy Spirit. All disciples of Christ are going through such a preparation—not all the same way, it is true, but each one is feeling the purging fires of the Spirit.
Just know that there are many Brothers very close to you in this ordeal, that they are supporting and sustaining you with Their Love and Strength; and we know that you will come through it cleansed, pure and beautiful, wholly worthy for the Master’s use.

THE HOME YOU WOULD LIKE YOURS TO BE
IT IS good to learn that your wife is writing you such nice letters; and it looks as if absence is having its effect and perhaps teaching her some lessons she needs to learn. We are glad to give you the following suggestions:
Try to see her and the children in their true selves, loving, kind, thoughtful, unselfish—just as you would like to have them be. Build in your mind a picture of your home as it would be were everything perfect, each one including yourself wholly unselfish and living only to make others happy. Hold on to this picture, refusing to see anything else as it were living in that consciousness, until it becomes a reality to you. This should be easy now that they are not with you, and we assure you if you will do just what we have stated, you will be surprised at what will result.
