The Inner Life
THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | MARCH 1936
Most of our students however are of a higher type who have gone through that experience, in a former life and have risen from the psychic into the mental realm, where leaving the body is no more than leaving one state of consciousness and entering a higher, and is easily done without any feeling of “leaving” the body.
And that is the right way it should be done. The moment you say to your mind “Be Still, and Know I Am,” and truly mean it, that moment you have transferred your consciousness from your outer mind to an inner consciousness, lifting your mind there with you, where you can speak to and teach it Truths it needs to know.

AFTER HELPING ANOTHER
TRY TO realize that when you are yearning to help another and after you are led to say things to them, you have then done your part. The only way then is to leave the results in the Father’s hands, because in the first place He brought that one to you, inspired that yearning, and put into your mouth the words you said; and surely He will take care of all else.
It is only your human mind that doubts and questions afterwards. You must make it to be still and abide in a perfect trust in God, in His Life and Intelligence within you and within that other, and which knows always what is best and which will grow and develop the soul of that other just as fast as is possible for that soul’s present understanding.

ACCIDENTS
THE numerous accidents you have had recently would indicate that you are failing to hold steady in consciousness and apply the Truths you have already learned. This means there is not that perfect trust in God that should be yours, with the understanding you have. These Lessons are to help establish you in that understanding.

OVERCOMING FATNESS OR SURPLUS FLESH
REGARDING the overcoming of fat or surplus flesh, try to realize that fatness is due first to the fear of it—the picture that is built in the mind unconsciously and fed by negative feelings regarding it; and secondly by an accumulation of Spiritual food that is not properly digested and assimilated.
There would seem to be no connection between these two, but in reality the former is caused subconsciously by the latter. It is both Nature’s and the Divine Self’s way of informing the mind of what is wrong. But of course the mind usually misinterprets—begins to fear and do just the opposite of what it should do—feel its consciousness of all negative thoughts on the subject and know only the Truth—that the body is beautiful, harmonious and perfect, formed in the image and likeness of God.
When the mind really knows this, and holds to it, paying no attention to what appears, the manifestation will adjust itself accordingly.
