to do, and I will do it. I give myself wholly to You, and as a little child now rest peacefully in the belief that You will take care of me.”
Study these words, and then try with all the power of your soul to do what you promise God you will do, and we assure you, dear friend, if you really do what you say you will, God will without question do His part.
TIME FOR MEDITATION
THE FACT that you have been led to these lessons and that you recognize in them their truths proves that you are ready for them. But it still remains for you to do the things you are shown to do. That is up to you, and make no mistake, your Higher Self will sooner or later require you to put them to use—or make your suffer for it in one way or another. As to opportunities for meditation, we find that many times a day a housewife can meditate upon the truths in a lesson while going about her daily tasks. If you would note the many foolish and wasteful thoughts you allow to come into and rule your mind at such times, you would understand what we mean. In place of such, why not think and meditate on the truths in a lesson? This would not only teach you not to waste your time, but would help you to learn to concentrate, and by that we mean, to do the things you want to do, and not what your mind wants to do. The mind must be taught to become your servant, and you must keep it at it until is so learns.
BREATHING EXERCISES
TRY TO realize that breathing exercises as taught in the Orient and practiced by devotees from earliest childhood, while evidently helpful to the Eastern type of mind, in many cases prove harmful to Westerners. For the reason that their life training and understanding is diametrically opposite. We have found here in the West we can accomplish much by just being still and knowing I AM God.
The reason for this is that most of us Western souls thousands of years ago lived in Eastern bodies and practiced such breathing exercises, and now having unfolded in consciousness so where we as souls can live in the different and higher vibrations of Western bodies, we should not go back to those lower vibrations induced by such breathing. Those of us who do so are liable to contact forces for which our Western training and teaching have not prepared us—as you have found. Were you under the direction of a teacher who could “see” just what you were contacting and how you were progressing, and who knew what was to follow, it would be different. But evidently your teacher was not such and did not want to take the responsibility of carrying you farther.
We advise that you cut out all breathing exercises and confine yourself strictly to the instructions you are receiving in the Impersonal lessons, trying to do faithfully and carefully what you are shown to do therein, when you will find you will have a consciousness that is far superior to anything that breathing itself would enable you to attain.
