black whiskers on his face, and eyes that were large and intensely black. His manner was that of some lordly person, and as he looked at me with eyes that seemed stern, I drew away with fear. Then the thought passed through my mind, “Why be afraid, even though he is a King?” and immediately he smiled so beautifully and his eyes seemed to melt with love and kindness. While this picture faded away, another face appeared before me, a face far more beautiful; for to me it was that of the Christ. Such wonderful eyes, but unspeakably sad, and a smile that thrilled my very soul. That too faded away, but the memory still lingers. In a day or so my eyes ceased to trouble me and were as before the trouble. Who were these Great Beings?

In your need you were shown that always there are Those who will help. What you took to be a King was really a Brother who came to help you, and when you were unafraid it not only enabled Him to help, but brought the added blessing of the loving Christ.

That which causes fear and trembling to the mortal mind is often that which has come to help us; but in our ignorance we fail to recognize the good it brings, and instead by our fears create a barrier that prevents our good being given us. Therefore by training ourselves to look for the good, and to pay no attention to appearances, many blessings will come instantly into expression, as is intended by the Giver of all good gifts.

I WAS extremely tired after a long auto trip, and laid down to rest for awhile, when such a numbness spread over my whole body that I was powerless to move a muscle. At first I thought the end of life had
