The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | OCTOBER 1936

My friend urged me to jump in and swim again. As I stood I was aware that the water was disappearing and looking down I saw only sand. With a sudden fear I turned behind me and there the reason was shown—an incredibly big and monstrous tidal wave was coming fast. In an agony of doubt I decided to stand still—that I would be killed probably anyway. The wave struck and broke and I remember no more after the crash until I was safe on the beach.

Later we went diving for my friend, and found her dead body, stuck fast in a cave of rocks under the water.

Your dream is very interesting and was to prepare you for that which has undoubtedly manifested. The friend represented your old self and her urging you to jump into the water and swim was merely the urge of the old self to try what was before you at that time. The big tidal wave was your sensing that something was coming that was challenging to engulf you, but as there was nothing else to do, you stood still and found that nothing really happened other than that your old self was dead. Now can you figure out just what it was that happened?

WHEN SELF DIES

I DREAMED that my little son was having terrible convulsions; in fact that is what took him away, and I again went through all of those last dreadful hours with him, trying in every conceivable way to alleviate his sufferings. The strange part of the dream was that, no matter how hard I tried to help him, some one else seemed to fight equally as hard to keep me from helping him. And it ended with me holding him in my arms, apparently dead, yet as I held him close, I felt the great warmth of his body and I said, “He is dead, yet I know he is alive still, because his body is so warm.”

Perhaps it is nothing at all. Yet when awakened, I was exhausted from the fight I had trying to help him and the other entity opposing me so terribly.

Regarding your dream, it was probably a soul experience to illustrate to you what is necessary to master your mind and all its forces. That which seemed to be your little son was the mind’s creation—self, which has to die, for you cannot take it along with you into the Kingdom. Seemingly it is in the process of dying, but your mind was holding on to and agonizing over its leaving you, only to find that while you were still holding self in your arms it was apparently dead, yet there was a great warmth in its body. Which means that all the forces of self had been withdrawn from it and are now a part of your being, warm, vibrant, and under your control.
