The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | NOVEMBER 1935

just to think that he was connected with all the power and energy in the universe and to know that it was flowing through him and entering her body, filling it with new life and power and energy. He said, “I will do it.”

We went to a nearby neighbor, visiting with wife and daughter while they were waiting for the husband to come home. Finally he arrived. He said, “Well it is all over with Mary, the Doctor just left and he said she will probably pass out during the next paroxysm. (It was just after the Doctor and this gentleman left that Mr. Brown found opportunity to do what we had told him to do.)

After awhile we drove to Mr. Brown’s home and finding no one there, we retired about five A.M. The next morning we heard some one come into the house and go to the part of the house in which Mr. Brown was sleeping. We made no attempt to hear what was said and did not go into the living room until the family had all gotten up for the morning. When we first went into the room nothing was said. When the children went into another room, he said, “I did just what you told me to do. In ten minutes Mary went to sleep and slept for five hours. The first sleep she had had for four days. This morning, she is greatly improved and the Doctor now says she will recover.”

By noon her condition was so greatly improved that I left for home. I visited that community again in about six months. The lady was in perfect health.

No miracle was performed in this case. The depressing and destructive mental activity was offset by a powerful constructive mental activity and a feeling of hope and faith which was reflected to the cell consciousness of the patient. No amount of objective argumentation would have helped this patient in the condition she was in at that time. The intense fear of the patient augmented by the fear and anxiety of all her friends, produced a conviction of hopelessness in the subconscious phase of the patient’s consciousness. Constructive thoughts and feelings when properly directed are many times more powerful and will manifest as quickly as to seem miraculous. The father being completely convinced, his thoughts and feelings became entirely constructive. This feeling was conveyed subconsciously to the consciousness of the patient, completely annihilating all negative feelings; and the results were strictly in conformity with perfect law.
