nearly as I can describe it, was extremely strong, especially in my right arm. It remained with me all evening and I was conscious of it during the night. The following days I was free from it, excepting while in the silence or when reading.
Last Sunday was an especially restful and peaceful day. I read and studied nearly all day. Tuesday was the day that I was to lead our group meeting, and I was especially anxious to do all in my power to make the meeting a beneficial one. Before going to sleep I gave myself up to meditation for a short time. The first part of the night was restless—I was conscious of an outside force that was not agreeable to me. About two o’clock I was suddenly awakened from a heavy, heavy sleep by a roaring and snapping in my ear drums. I felt as if I were being pulled by an irresistible force out of my body up through my head. The rapidity with which I was being pulled caused the pressure on my ear drums and awakened me.
Instantly it occurred to me what was happening, and the first thing that flashed into my mind was, “You didn’t get me!” My feeling was that of resentment at being forced out of my body against my will.
Then I fell back into a deep sleep again, when suddenly the experience was repeated. This time I was jerked with greater force and felt that my ear drums were bursting. To myself I said, “You didn’t get me this time either.”
As soon as I could open my eyes, I saw suspended in the air above and to my right an aeroplane with outstretched wings. The wings disappeared and left the body remaining in the air. That soon vanished and in its place was seen a white metal tank, lying sideways. It had a peculiar handle on each side, and the projecting top was
