WITH the advent of Christianity, the Christian pilgrim came into being, and for nineteen hundred years he has been treading the weary and soul-searching path to glory and peace. We mean the true pilgrim, not the nominal Christian of whom John Bunyan gave many choice examples in the persons of Mr. Worldly Wiseman and his friends.

Nowadays, the Mr. Worldly Wisemens hold the reins of all so-called Christian religions, but their grasp is fast becoming palsied, for the time has now arrived when the HAND OF GOD takes the reins, and CHRIST reigns over all humanity.

Earth will become a spiritual sphere, so that earthly things will be the things of GOD, and Bunyan’s “man with the muck-rake,” who could only see downwards, (and, as the Interpreter explained—“… is to let thee know that earthly things when they are with power upon men’s minds, quite carry their hearts away from GOD . . .”) will be no more; for up or down or encircling will be seen nothing but the World Beautiful, peopled by men in GOD’S image and likeness.

However, there is much yet to be accomplished in man’s consciousness before he may enter Beulah Land. Vanity Fair is to be exposed for what it is—the pleasures of the immature senses; the Slough of Despond must be realized as the ignorance of GOD-good, and the Valley of Humiliation must be entered and enjoyed, and man must learn the song of the merry shepherd-lad whose beloved home and kin were also with him in that Valley where “our Lord formerly had His country house”:—

He that is down needs fear no fall;
He that is low, no pride;
He that is humble, ever shall
Have GOD to be his guide.
