BEFORE THE SOUL WAS
YOU have had pictured to you what is the Soul, knowing it now as a center of consciousness, a state of awareness, functioning somewhere between the human mind and the Divine Mind and being an outer extension of that Mind.
This would naturally imply that the closer the center of consciousness is to the outer mind, the farther away it is from Divine Mind. Putting it another way—the closer it is to the outer, the more physical or animal would be the consciousness, and the less spiritual. Or in still another way, the closer to the outer, the more ignorant; because of being farther away from the light and influence of Divine Mind.
The inference from this is that the Soul as a center of consciousness is gradually working its way from the outermost or physical plane of influence inward to the Spiritual, or Divine, and that as it gets nearer to its Source, its understanding of its own being, of its place and purpose in Divine Mind, and its desire to become harmonized with that Mind, grows, unfolds and more and more influences its expression, until it begins to lend itself as a channel for that Mind’s use and to co-operate consciously with It.
This, of course, refers to what is termed the growth and evolution of the Soul, and shows that it is really an unfoldment or expansion of its consciousness, as it enters more and more into the light of understanding of Divine Mind, its Source, which is ever seeking to shine through
