THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | APRIL 1933

your power. At the end of six months you should see a great difference and realize how you have been helped through our inspiration, and how you have been enabled to help others. Now I beg you to remember that only through loving service to your fellow men can you reach God. While we are here, I want Marah to write to you—a soul soon to incarnate on your plane. You were each one with her this last week. (This we took to mean in the sleep state, as none of us were conscious of such meeting.)

MARAH WRITES

I am Marah—Marah because I have indeed drunk of the bitter waters. When last in a living physical body I was a Queen, but through love of self and of power I have been in deep waters of woe. But God, my Father, has given me another chance to work out my redemption.

When I passed over I found all was dark, and I suffered tortures from others who were in that darkness, and when I tried to command them they mocked and jeered at me. This agony went on for some time, and one day I said, “If I am no Queen, then what am I?”

A lovely figure of Light appeared, and all the imps of darkness fled into the infernal regions. He said, “Dost thou know me?” And when I prayed for light, he brought a picture to me of a serving man at my court whom I had whipped to death. He said, “I am he, and now I want to help you.” I commanded him to take me away, but he smiled kindly and put his hand on me and said, “No longer canst thou command.”

Oh, how he helped me, who had built wall after wall of false pride around myself! Now through his help I have reviewed my former life, and I shall in the future come
