The Inner Life

THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | NOVEMBER 1935

right to separate. Go thy way in peace, child, and let not your heart be troubled.”

Well that was the first time God, Himself, explained something to me direct, but it was not the last. Since for thirty that and until this day when I go into the Silence for a writing, it is He who speaks to me. And oh such peace and comfort fill my soul when He is through; I live in it for days at a time.

My child does not come so often since God speaks to me, but then I am not worried about her any more, for I denied her nothing while in the material world and I will not deny her anything in the Spiritual world, if I can help it. But in her writings I could tell how she grew spiritually, how she changed from a little girl to a young woman, and that she taught me many things that I did not know. I have picked out a few of the beautiful words I received. At least to me they are beautiful:

“MOTHER dear, one’s life is beautiful when one walks in the path that leads to God. That is the only path that counts. Things seem strange to you now, Mother; but some day you will understand. The understandings comes only, however, when you walk in the path of God.

“The skies may be dark and dreary, but behind the clouds the sun still shines. And that’s the way with your life; one day may be dark, but the next day is filled with sunshine. That is the beautiful part of life, Mother dear; if we believe in God and His ways, we can always see the sun shine through the darkness.

“God has taken us away from you in the physical, but He has given you a wonderful spiritual life in return. Make the best use of it that you can; for the spiritual understanding that is unfolding to you every day is the most wonderful gift that anyone could want. If God takes one thing from us, He usually gives us something better in return—if we accept it; He lets that up to us.

“So I say, accept your gift from God, and be thankful for it. Just go along in your simple way, always asking God for all power to go through life the way He chooses for you; and I am sure you will not feel as if life has cheated you—even if you will never again have a little one of your own to hold close to your heart. For we cannot always have what we want most, but we can make the most of what we have.”
