The Inner Life
THE HERALD OF THE NEW AGE | FEBRUARY 1935
By joyful hope they soon are swept away,
And light divine doth guide me all the day.
As weary watchers look to see the day,
And herald gladly each faint, glimmering ray,
My eyes are turned to Thee, O Lord of Light,
From out the deep abyss of darkest night.
In weakness and unrest, Thine own strong arm
Doth stretch to help, and banish all alarm.
From Thy calm lips the sweet words come to me:
“My grace, dear child, sufficient is for thee.”
O Thou, firm executor of the Power Divine,
Inspirer of all beauty—Thou art mine.
Help me to realize the LIFE COMPLETE.
Fill me, dear Lord, with Thine own spirit sweet.

TRUTH IS WITHIN OURSELVES
TRUTH is within ourselves; it takes no rise from outward things. There is an inmost center in us all, where Truth abides in fulness; and around, wall upon wall, the gross flesh hems it in.
This perfect, clear perception, which is Truth, a baffling and perverting carnal mesh binds and makes all error; and to know consists rather in opening out a way whence the imprisoned splendor may escape, than in effecting entry for a light supposed to be without.
Watch narrowly the demonstration of a Truth, its birth, and you trace back the effluence to its spring and source within us, where broods radiance vast. —From Browning’s Paracelsus.

HAST thou attuned thy heart and mind to the great mind and heart of all mankind? For as the Sacred River’s roaring voice whereby all nature-sounds are echoed back, so must the heart of him “who in the stream would enter thrill in response to every sigh and thought of all that lives and breathes.” —The Voice of the Silence.
