The Inner Life

VIA DOLOROSA
SATURDAY morning in the Silence, meditation ceased, I found myself outside a city wall close to a gate, beside which a cross lay. I knew that the city was Jerusalem.
No one was near, consequently, I was free to follow my own dictates; so I picked up the cross willingly and placed it upon my back and bending low began to carry it over a winding stony path up a hill that rose before me. I could see myself journeying slowly onward alone. There was neither interference nor force, invitation nor command, as what I did was an act of free will. About half way up the hill a voice was heard to say “Come unto me all ye who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”
Immediately the weight of the cross seemed partly to lift and each step the load became lighter until the hill top was gained. Standing along the path that I traveled were many personalities, those in which I had lived and expressed in past lives, it seemed to me. Not a word was spoken by any of those who had served me so well in the yesterdays.
On the crest of the hill I laid the cross down and placed my self upon it, and was preparing to nail it fast, when lo and behold, it was nailed; my desire, my thought of it had instantly been outmanifested. I noticed that the three spikes (one driven through each hand and one for both feet) were made of bright gold. I then made ready to lift the cross so as to place it in a hole in the ground enabling it to stand in an upright position. Again my thought was outmanifested as quickly as before. The cross with my self upon it was placed.
As I stood looking at that self, I heard that voice again saying, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man cometh to the Father but by Me.” A few feet from me Jesus stood, and how I longed to understand as He did all that had taken place.
The self now hangs upon the cross, while I am standing by waiting for it to cry out “It is finished.” I see it often during the day and when in the silence, as I meditate much on the vision.
