OUR REPLY: We have read the experience you relate in your letter with much interest. But it is similar to that of many who have listened to the lying messages that come through the Ouija Board and through Automatic Writing. It was just as was told you—you were being misled by mischievous entities in the spirit world. But it was permitted by your Higher Self to teach you that Jesus and the Holy Ones of the spirit do not come to you in that way.
You are wise to leave such things alone, but you must not allow yourself to lose faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, just because someone impersonated Him and got and betrayed your confidence. Jesus is ever present as a Great Love, but the only way He, as Love, can teach His followers to know Him as He is, is to let them first learn what He is not. Otherwise they would believe everything and everybody who claims to be He. In other words, just because you were foolish enough to believe things told you, is no sign that He is not true and real.

THE ABOVE experience is such an excellent example of how those in spirit work, who would deceive credulous and even advanced truth students, that we will point out some of the sophistries employed that usually fool nearly everyone the first time.
As we have so often stated, there can be no such deceit practiced without giving some truths that will gain a seeker’s interest and confidence. The first truth given in this instance was that Love is the law, and that she was writing the message. Then, in order to appeal to self, she was told that in getting this message she was walking on holy ground, and that she was on earth to fulfill the law. Then they began to fill her full of what seemed to her wonderful and beautiful teachings about things of which they knew she was ignorant; and if they made them sound wise and marvelous enough she would undoubtedly accept them as true.
Then to try her out and further work on her credulity, if possible, they claimed to be Jesus, and taught her things that she evidently accepted as being good and true.
However, her Higher Self was seemingly endeavoring to make Itself heard, because of the doubts that became prominent in her mind. But when “Jesus” said he had chosen her and had a
