would not “outside” things “appear” entirely different from what one now “sees” them to be? And if the sense of touch also were taken away, imagine then what would one know of “outside” things which are merely vibrations coming from ideas in universal mind.

For a blind or deaf person incapable of feeling anything, and living in an inner world of mind, would probably conceive of those vibrations quite accurately and would “see” them in their pure state uninfluenced by the mental concepts of those whose five senses are awake and active and ruled by the mass thoughts of men.

This then only proves that the physical eyes serve but to “see” the vibrations reflected by the light rays and to convey those vibrations through the nerves of the eye to the brain, where the mind therein instantly and automatically forms a thought-picture of what it thinks is the source of those vibrations—and that picture alone is what is seen; proven by the fact that further acquaintance with what is so seen may change the picture, or your concept or belief about a person, thing or condition, very materially.

Study this until you see how true it is, and how it behooves one not to judge by appearances only.

THIS brings us to the second statement above mentioned, that “neither the outer nor the inner world is real—that they are only what you ‘see’ or THINK them to be.”

This must be so, for when one learns, as he inevitably will, that what “appears” or what he seemingly sees with his physical eyes, is not the real or true of persons, things and conditions, he will also learn to study carefully what he sees—study his concepts of them, the thought pictures he is carrying around in his mind. For during such study he will likely find that there will unfold from within a thought-picture new ideas or underlying meanings regarding what is so “seen,” and if he persists the truth or the pure idea hidden beneath the thought-picture with which mortal mind has invested it may be revealed.
