and believe certain things that cool, common sense would tell him are ridiculous.

For Anti-christ is ever on the watch for those who are earnestly seeking truth, in order to mislead and deceive them if he can; for his purpose is to hide the truth and keep men in ignorance and darkness, as he can no longer deceive and use those who have found the Light and are walking in it. He is the Prince of Darkness and can rule and work only in the darkness. Therefore, he always clouds the truth by perverting and twisting it so that it sounds like truth yet ever leads into the darkness of error, sin and delusion.

Very few know that man being a part of humanity, and the consciousness of humanity being chiefly in the darkness, he is really ruled by Anti-christ, and that until he has found the Christ within himself and has learned always to turn to Him for guidance, he will be led by self to think, say or do things that unfailingly cause trouble, inharmony and grief.

While working with equal success with individuals and groups, Anti-christ delights in fooling masses of people, and for such purpose he employs those clever tools of a religious nature whom he can hoodwink and get under his dominion, and can then with his religious sophistries use them to gather around them a following.

Especially therefore must one watch himself when he gets in a crowd of “believers” of any particular faith, movement or individual, and if he is careful, he will note the tendency of those present to place the individual who is the leader upon a high pedestal and more or less look upon him with awe. This attitude alone makes them wide open to Anti-christ’s influence, who leads them to accept as truth any high-sounding, beautiful and unusual statement spoken with authority, especially if in it is mixed some truth, when it may be wholly visionary and more or less fallacious, if not an actual untruth.

There are usually a sufficient number in such a crowd that accept everything said, and the psychological effect upon the others is such that only strong individualistic thinkers are not caught in the mass beliefs of the regular followers. This of course is enhanced where the leader is very clever, has a considerable knowledge of truth, has a magnetic personality, and knows how to sway his audience.
